President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has congratulated Beji Caid Essebsi on wining the Tunisian presidential polls.
During a phone call, Sisi asserted Egypt's full support for Tunisia and aspiration to bolster cooperation ties between the two countries.
Essebsi, for his part, thanked the president.
He hailed the strategic ties binding the two Arab countries.
Essebsi secured 55.68% of the vote in Sunday's run-off, defeating caretaker president Moncef Marzouki (44.32%), the head of the electoral commission said.
