Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday a phone call from Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.
Anastasiades asserted during the contact his country's interest in promoting ties with Egypt at both the bilateral and regional levels, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
He termed Egypt as a pillar for the security and stability in the Middle East, said the spokesman.
The Cypriot leader reiterated the importance of cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, said the spokesman.
Sisi praised the important role of Cyprus in setting up bridges of cooperation across the Mediterranean region, said Youssef.
The president asserted Cairo's interest in promoting the ties with Cyprus, said the spokesman.
The Cypriot president briefed Sisi on the outcome of his country's efforts to push forward the peace process in the Middle East.
As for the Palestinian cause, Anastasiades asserted his country's support to the establishment of a Palestinian independent state, said the spokesman.
