Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is keen on backing Lebanon and its moderate leaderships, especially leader of the Future Current Saad Hariri, said Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohamed Badr el Din Zayed.
"We really support any positive Lebanese stance that would help stabilize Lebanon," the diplomat said in an interview with Nahar newspaper.
He expressed Egypt's support of the current dialogue between Hezbollah and Future Current, saying Egypt hopes it will continue till it ends up by electing a new president of the country.
About extremism, he said Egypt is playing an important role in facing extremism through Al Azhar.
He also unveiled western and European contacts to mull ways of helping Al Azhar fight extremist religious discourse.
As for Iran, he said "Iran is a Muslim state and we hope it will play a positive role in the stability of the region."
"But we hope there is no Iranian interference in Lebanon that would affect its stability and disrupt political life," he said.
