Mufti Shawqi allam

Egyptian Mufti Shawky Allam stressed Abdel Fattah El Sisi's keenness on developing religious discourse.

Sisi backs all religious associations in Egypt seeking to find a moderate religious discourse coping with the spirit of the age, the mufti said during a meeting in Davos with Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.

In a statement by Dafrul Iftaa on Thursday, Allam expounded to Schwab that Darul Iftaa works on disseminating the moderate teachings of Islam, defending Islam and combating chaos in Iftaa discourse.

Alam underlined that Egypt is keen on being open to the world and is ready for cooperation on the basis of serving mutual interest and promoting world peace.

The mufti called on Muslims, scholars and preachers to join hands to restore the real image of Islam that was tarnished by terror and extremism.

He cautioned of the gravity of the spread of ideas of extremist organizations about Islam among Muslim youths living in the west.

Meanwhile, Schwab underscored the key role of religious leaderships in promoting the culture of dialogue and coexistence among religions.

Schwab noted that he ordered distributing among all participants in Davos Forum a booklet on the mufti's explanation of the real principles of Islam which were tarnished by extremists in the last period.
