President Abdel Fattah El Sisi

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered expanding work of a panel in charge of revising files of jailed youths to include those who were handed final sentences in demonstration, opinion and publishing cases, the presidential spokesman said.

Sisi made the remark during a meeting Saturday with the panel which was formed under the president's orders during Egypt's First National Youth Conference, held in Sharm el Sheikh on October 25, Alaa Youssef said.

The committee comprises Dr Ossama el Ghazali Harb, Nashwa el Hofi, Mohamed Abdel Aziz, MP Tareq Kholi and Karim el Saqqa.

The committee members presented during the meeting a report on the committee action plan, Youssef said.

The committee members said they had talks with the National Council for Human Rights, the parliamentary human rights committee, political parties and the families of the detainees.

The committee started working on the files of jailed students.

The committee members said they reviewed files in coordination with the Ministries of Justice and Interior Affairs, stressing that the panel will not revise the files of youths jailed over committing acts of violence.

Sisi hailed the efforts exerted by the panel, noting that the panel is one the key gains of the conference which represented a civilized example of dialogue with youths from different backgrounds.

The president stressed commitment to following up the committee's work and recommendations to take needed measures in line with the law.

The president stressed support for youths' contribution to the ongoing development process.
