Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Sunday Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the Sudanese ambassador in Cairo.
The meeting tackled the latest developments in the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam files as the president stressed the importance of reaching a joint understanding maintaining the water rights of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia and their peoples.
The president called for taking tangible steps within the framework of the Declaration of Principles, signed in March in Khartoum.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said the president highlighted profound Egyptian-Sudanese relations and expressed keenness on the need to push foward joint cooperation and coordination.
Ghandour stressed Saturday that Egypt and Sudan have no other option but to resort to dialogue to solve their dispute on the Hala’ib territory.
During a joint press conference with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Ghandour said no new complaint was filed with the United Nations Security Council to settle the dispute.
The talks also tackled the Egyptian-Sudanese cooperation on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
