Cairo - MENA
Mohamed Rukara, an adviser to the Burundian president on Wednesday asserted that an anticipated visit by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to the Nile Basin countries will settle all pending issues of joint concern.
At a meeting with MENA staff, with MENA Chief Editor and Board Chairman Alaa Haydar attending, Rukara said the visit will be reminiscent of the important role undertaken by Egypt for the independence of the Basin countries.
The visit will also offer an opportunity for discussing means of promoting cooperation between Egypt and other African countries in general and the Nile Basin states in particular, he added.
Rukara added that president Sisi asserted at their meeting here on Monday that the African countries are in need of development and Egypt is in need of the Nile water. Therefore strategic integration between Egypt and the other Nile Basin countries should be maintained, Rukara quoted president Sisi as having said.
