A Tunisian soldier has opened fire on other troops at a military base in Tunis, the Tunisian Defense Ministry said Monday.

It was not immediately clear if there were any fatalities at the Bouchoucha base.

The shooting sparked an evacuation of a nearby school, but an army spokesman said it was not an external attack.

The country's forces have been on alert since gunmen attacked the Bardo national museum in March, killing more than 20 people.
