The Interior Minister, Lt. Gen. Ismat Abdul-Rahman, received Tuesday the Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Osman Yousif Kibir, in the presence of the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the state, the Commander of the Central Emergency Forces and the Director of the General the Civil Defence Administration.
The Wali explained in a press statement following the meeting that they discussed ways to address damage caused by the heavy rains that hit the state and resulted in the damage of (2716) houses in Al-Fasher and other towns as well as destruction of (18) schools in the primary and secondary levels a number of the government facilities, a matter that requires concerted efforts in the centre and in the state to expedite in addressing the negative effects and providing urgent aid for the affected citizens, such as tents, sheltering and food materials and other requirements.
He said that the meeting reviewed also plans being taken to secure roads and the pastoral areas in order to set up precautionary measures to avoid frictions between tribes and to disseminate the culture of the peace co-existence between them.
