The First Vice President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, has affirmed the Presidency of the Republic concern and support to Abyei area, particularly to the people affected y by the heavy rainfall and floods in the area.
This came during his meeting Sunday with chairman of the joint committee of Abyei area, Al-Khair Al-Fahim Mekki, who indicated in a press statement to SUNA that he acquainted the first vice president with the total security, political and diplomatic situation in the area, and the United Nations Security Council decision 2156 on Abyei area which included some directives for the Abyei supervision committee that includes both the Sudanese and south Sudanese sides, that the dialogue should be conducted by the communities in the area through the supervision of the joint committee under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic.
Al-Fahim described as balanced the decision which came as a result of the great efforts exerted by the Sudan representative to the UN, indicating that he briefed the First Vice President on the situation in the area in the service and development fields.
He noted that the First Vice President of the Republic has given directives to the supervisory committee to prepare urgent memos on the needs of the affected citizens at Abyei area.
