The Sudanese voters headed Monday for the polling centers in 18 states to cast their ballot in the general election.

Candidates representing 46 parties are taking part in the parliamentary election while 16 candidates are running for presidency ,including incumbent Sudanese President Omar el Bashir.

Elections take place in Sudan every five years.

As many as 13.642 million voters have the right to vote in the election, the National Election Commission in Sudan said.
