A suicide attacker detonated the car he was driving next to a Lebanese army checkpoint in Beirut injuring scores of people on Monday, security sources said.
Security forces opened fire at the suicide attacker who then detonated the explosives in the car causing injuries to scores of people, the sources were quoted by local media as saying.
The Lebanese Red Cross said no deaths were reported.
Security authorities advised people to stay away from the explosion scene.
