A booby-trapped car went off Wednesday near a checkpoint leading to the Benghazi naval base.
The driver was killed in the blast while many soldiers were injured, a Libyan army senior officer said.
Meantime, fierce clashes broke out with Ansar al Sharia militants on roads leading to Benghazi Port.
