A suicide car bomb targeted al Kararim entrance to the eastern Libyan city of Misrata, a well-placed security source said Friday.

The driver did not comply with orders of the military police deployed to protect the entrance for him to stop, the source said.

The source said the driver would not step out of the car, which later exploded.

Security forces and the authorities concerned rushed to the scene of the blast.

A probe has been launched into the incident.
