The Speaker of the People’s Council of Syria (Parliament) Mohammad Jihad al-Laham said Wednesday in Algiers that his country wishes to benefit from the Algerian experience in terms of national reconciliation and legislative elections.
“Syria will, undoubtedly, benefit from the Algerian experience in terms of national reconciliation and legislative elections,” said al-Laham in a statement to the press following the audience that the secretary general of the National Liberation Front Amar Saadani granted to him.  
The Syrian parliament speaker dubbed “historic and strategic” the relations between his country and Algeria, adding that the two countries share the same “liberation struggle against the French colonizer,” he added.
Al-Laham underlined that his talks with the Algerian officials and speakers of the parliament’s two chambers focused on “the various fields of cooperation, coordination and exchange of views.”
Al-Laham criticized “the media that distort facts in Syria by making the world believe that the Syrian leaders are killing their people,” which is “inconceivable,” he added.
Pointing out the success of his country’s presidential election, al-Laham “denounced” the hatched conspiracy by some Arab States against Syria.
