A Syrian army unit fended off Daesh attack on military sites in al Maqale' area in the eastern countryside of Palmyra city, Syrian military source said on Tuesday.

The attack was foiled and scores of Daesh militants were killed and injured as well as destroying several equipment, including weapons and ammunition, state-run SANA news agency quoted the source as saying.
