The meeting which gathers about 45 figures from Syrian independents and opposition groups is of paramount importance, said a well-placed diplomatic source on Thursday.
In exclusive statements to MENA on the sidelines of the meeting, the source hoped that the meeting would pave a way to reach a consensus over a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The source added that the meeting is held upon a request from the Syrian political powers, who met with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and requested by Egypt to host a meeting for Syrians in order to agree on a joint political vision.
