The Syrian army staged intensive airstrikes against opposition positions in Aleppo Friday after armed opposition fighters attacked the city in a bid to control it.

The armed fighting continued until the early hours of the morning, while army jets are still striking opposition posts, Sky News Arabia TV quoted the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying.
