Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued on Monday a decree setting April 13 as a date for electing members of the People’s Assembly for the second legislative term, the official SANA news agency reported.

The decision came hours following the US and Russia's agreement on a temporary cessation of hostilities for Syria that would take effect Saturday
