Alexandria Port Authority took all needed measures to tighten security on waters, docks, buildings and fences of Alexandria and Dekheila ports during the inauguration of the New Suez Canal on Thursday.

An authority source said the authority installed electronic gates at customs outlets and ordered employees back-up in shifts to maintain work at the ports.

Egypt will inaugurate the New Suez Canal on Thursday, which will massively increase the capacity of the existing canal and offer an important opportunity to boost the country’s economy.
