Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé said his country will vote for Egypt to gain a seat at the African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council, Egypt's Ambassador to Togo Karim Sherif said on Thursday.
Gnassingbé requested Egypt to vote for his country in its bid to gain the same seat.
During his meeting with the Egyptian ambassador, Gnassingbé conveyed his greetings to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and stressed deeply-rooted relations between Cairo and Lomé.
Egypt will be capable of supporting and defending African issues if it wins the council's membership, Gnassingbé stressed.
