Manama - BNA
Chairman of Board of Directors of the "Mabadi" Human Rights Society Abdulla Al-Dossary has lauded the good organisation and transparency of the electoral process in all constituencies, noting that the supervisory committees opened the ballot boxes and closed them prior to the beginning of the voting at 08:00 am today.
He said that the society's 90 monitors in the 34 constituencies reported good organisation of the electoral process and high turnout of voters, with smooth traffic and security ensured outside the polling centres, hailing the existing cooperation between supervisory committees, monitors and voters.
In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Al-Dossary said the society monitors reported massive voter turnout, especially in the general polling centres, adding that many voters in the Northern Governorates headed to general centres in the Southern Governorate and even that in the Bahrain International Airport.
He pointed out that monitors reported limited attempts to prevent voters from reaching the polling centes, noting that the intensive police presence maintained order and secured roads.
He said that the society had prepared a report on the first round of this year's elections and submitted copies to the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and all other relevant sides, and was also published in local newspapers.
Member of the "Mabadi" Human Rights Society Huda Al-Mehza said that the society's monitors had reported no violations inside the polling centres, praising the role played by judges in the electoral process.
