The Cairo Criminal Court Sunday decided to postpone the trial of 215 terrorists of the Muslim Brotherhood group till October 19.

The defendants are accused in the case better known in the media as Helwan Brigades.

The postponement came to allow the defendants in custody to attend the session.

Former prosecutor general Hisham Barakat approved in February referring the case to the criminal court while the 125 defendants remain in custody.

The Helwan Brigades carried out attacks against army and police forces and vital facilities particularly power pylons.

The committees, formed by MB leaders, under the cover of protests, attacked vital state institutions according to a "map of targets" to undermine the national economy and the state, the detainees said during investigations by the High State Security Prosecution.

The so-called "Coalition to Support Legitimacy" coordinated moves among the armed groups during MB protests, the detainees said.

In August 2014, the self-proclaimed militia published a video on the internet of a group of armed and masked men vowing to target police facilities in Helwan City, southern Cairo.

They face charges of forming a terrorist cell, possessing firearms and vandalism.
