Port Said Criminal Court

Port Said Criminal Court decided to defer till July 25 the trial of 51 defendants over charges of storming Port Said Prison in January of 2013.

The defendants were charged with carrying out riots and attempting to storm the prison following the ruling in Port Said massacre case in which a number of defendants were sentenced to death.

The court deferred the trial to have enough time to watch CDs included in the case file.

A number of high ranking officers testified in the session, including former Port Said security chief Omar Mohamed Abdel Meguid. He said Central Security Forces at first fired tear gas and then fired warning shots to discourage the families from storming the prison.
