Cairo Criminal Court

Cairo Criminal Court on Wednesday decided to adjourn to August 2 the trial of ousted president Mohammad Morsi and 10 co-defendants of the Muslim Brotherhood group over charges of leaking classified documents on Egypt's national security and the Armed Forces to Qatar.

The delay decision was taken after Morsi failed to appear in the trial session over diabetes problems. The court will also resume listening to testimonies.

Prosecution received a note from the medical team of the ousted president that his blood sugar is behind normal rates and he will not be able to attend the session.

Morsi and other co-defendants were sentenced to 25 years in prison in the case related to conspiring with foreign groups.

The decision came as the court also upheld a death sentence handed down to Morsi for plotting jailbreaks and attacks on police during the 2011 uprising.
