The Tunisian army has announced it managed to manufacture the first locally made military vessel dubbed “Al-Estiqlal” (Independence).

In a press statement on Friday, Tunisian Defense Minister Farahat Al-Harshani said the vessel was manufactured through cooperation between officers and engineers from the army and private sector.
The vessel will open door to developing military industrialization and providing new job opportunities, he noted.

The Defense Ministry will outline an integrated strategy to develop military industrialization and scientific research with the aim to boost military potentials of Tunisia, he said.
