Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamis al Jehinawi said his country supports the nomination of Egyptian ex-foreign minister Ahmed Abul Gheit for the secretary general post of the Arab League.
The Tunisian foreign minister made the remark during a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Thursday, ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
During the meeting, Shoukry stressed the importance of supporting joint Arab action to counter challenges facing Arab countries, the spokesman said.
He also thanked Jehinawi for his country's support for the Egyptian nomination.
The two foreign ministers probed several issues on the agenda of the Arab foreign ministers' council meeting and preparations for an upcoming meeting of Libya's neighboring countries, which will be held on March 21 and 22 in Tunisia.
