Tunis - TAP
Tunisia withdrew its Ambassador to Iraq, along with all its diplomatic staff, in view of the worsening security situation in the country, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Mokhtar Chaouachi told TAP on Tuesday.
Tunisia pulled out its ambassador and the members of its diplomatic mission in the Iraqi capital, a week ago, on a temporary basis till the situation gets back to normal, the same source said.
Only one embassy staffer remained to "provide a minimum service" to the Tunisian community of about 250 people, Chaouachi pointed out.
The security situation in Iraq further deteriorated recently. There was a surge of fighting between government forces and Jihadist armed groups of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.
