A soldier has succumbed to injuries sustained in last May 25 Bouchoucha barracks shooting, bringing the overall death toll from the shooting to 8.

The soldier died late on Friday night at the Military Hospital in Tunis, Lieutenant-Colonel Belhassen Oueslati told TAP by phone.

He is volunteer soldier Haythem Saimi who was laid to rest on Sunday morning at Sidi Yahia cemetery.

A soldier, last Monday, opened fire on fellow troops at the Bouchoucha military barracks, killing six people before he was himself killed. 10 others were injured in the shooting.
