President Moncef Marzouki

Tunisian parties participating in the national dialogue agreed on avoiding political and legal debate over interim president Moncef Marzouki’s call to leader of Nidaa Tounes party Beji Caid Essebsi to candidate a figure who will form the next cabinet.
In a press release after their meeting on Saturday, the parties said such call can wait until the presidential elections wrap up.
The statement also called all political parties to avoid political tension in the current period and to not listen to calls that aim to separate Tunisians.
The second-round vote of the Tunisian presidential elections is expected to be held on either December 21 or 28.
The second round will see Marzouki vie for the highest post against Essebsi who clinched some 1.9 million votes (39.4 percent) in the first round; while Marzouki, who came in second with about 1.1 million votes (33.4 percent).
