Tunis - KUNA
The Tunisian Parliament endorsed Thursday a new coalition government led by Prime Minister Habib Essid.
An overwhelming majority of 166 MPs out of a total of 204 present in Thursday's plenary session voted for the new government while only thirty voted against. Eight MPs abstained at the end of a two-day general debate.
The coalition government is led by secular Nidaa Tounes party and four other parties including the moderate Islamist rivals Ennahda.
Nidaa Tounes holds six portfolios including the foreign ministry, while the interior, defence and justice portfolios went to independents. Ennahda takes the labour ministry and three secretary of state posts.
