Tunisia's newly-elected Beji Caid Essebsi thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for congratulating him on the election victory.
Sisi phoned Essebsi to congratulate him on wining the Tunisian presidential polls on Monday.
In his meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Tunisia Ayman Musharafa, Essebsi hailed deeply-rooted ties binding both countries.
Essebsi secured 55.68% of the vote in Sunday's run-off, defeating caretaker president Moncef Marzouki (44.32%), the head of the electoral commission said.
