The Federal National Council (FNC) has adopted 238 recommendations following 22 debates on public issues held during 66 sessions in the 15th Legislative Chapter of the 4th Ordinary Session.
As a platform for tackling topics and concerns regarding the nation and its citizens, the Chapter, began on 11th November 2011 and concluded on 16th June 2015, holding serious discussions on policies carried out in many federal ministries, departments, institutions and centres, with the aim of advancing inclusive development drives and delivering development goals.
According to a report issued by the FNC Secretariat-General, following the discussions the government agreed to 115 recommendations and rejected 16, postponed 4 and set aside 8 as pending decisions.
The report noted that the house committees had completed discussions of six other public issues, but had not presented them to the house. These topics included policies of the Central Bank of the UAE, the Federal Demographic Council (FDC), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Federal National Council of Affairs, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) and national efforts to protect the public from illegal drugs. The committees are still studying three issues related to government policy to address domestic violence against women and children, a policy of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development on cultural development, as well as the UAE Vision 2021.
