UN envoy Bernardino Leon

The UN envoy for Libya announced on Thursday night a national unity government for Libya after months of difficult talks between the North African country's two rival governments.

Addressing a press conference, Bernardino Leon said the names of candidates for the national unity government have been decided.

Leon said the prime minister for the new government is Fayez Sarraj.

Nominated figures for the deputy premier posts included Fathi Al Majbari, Mousa Al Kouni and Ahmed Muaiteeq.

Omar Al Aswad and Mohamed Al Amari were nominated for the posts of minister members at the presidential council.

Other former ministers and parliament members were also nominated for ministerial posts in the new government, according to Leon.

The envoy added the names of candidates for the new government do not represent a final list, although "we believe this list can work"
