Egypt's Ambassador to the Vatican Hatem Seif El Nasr met head of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace Peter Turkson who lauded Egypt's efforts to confront terrorism, extremism and religious intolerance.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the meeting focused on means to cement cooperation between the two countries.

Turkson also hailed the leading role of Al Azhar Al Sharif in promoting social justice, and the culture of peace and moderation.
