Egyptian parliament

Electoral committees in Damanhour in Beheira governorate opened their doors to receive voters in the delayed runoff elections of the second and final phase of the parliamentary elections.

Police and army troops were intensively deployed in front of the committees to maintain security and prevent any breaches.

The voting was held amid calm atmosphere and low turnout.

Eight candidates, including a woman, are competing to win four parliamentary seats.

The Administrative Court has ordered Damanhour elections to be annulled as one of the candidates was sentenced to five years in jail over charges of killing and possession of arms.
