The Yemeni government is now controlling around 80 percent of the country's territories, Saudi military spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed Asiri on said on Thursday.

In an interview with Russia Today TV channel, Asiri accused militants there of trying to hand over the war-torn Yemen to Iran.

Saudi Arabia has no ambitions in Yemen, Asiri , who is a spokesman for a Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, said.

The Arab intervention in Yemen is aimed at protecting the Yemeni people, he added.
