Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi met on Wednesday with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace in Yemen.
Zayani extended the Gulf leaders' greetings to the Yemeni president for his safe arrival in Aden following his house arrest, according to a statement issued by the GCC General Secretariat.
The GCC councils support the Yemeni president in his efforts to complete the peaceful political process in Yemen according to the Gulf initiative and the outcome of the national dialogue, Zayani said.
He underlined that the Gulf council is keen to achieve security and stability in Yemen.
Hadi, for his part, thanked the GCC states for their supportive stance toward Yemen during this critical stage.
Tension has been running high in Yemen since Houthis seized control of Sanaa in September and sought to extend their influence to other provinces.
Having been put under house arrest by Houthis for several weeks, Hadi fled to Aden and declared that he was still the "legitimate president" of Yemen.
