Twelve Daesh-related Takfiris were sentenced to death by a criminal court in Zagazig of Sharqiya, east of Cairo, on Saturday.

They were convicted of forming a terrorist cell to target police and the army. They were also found guilty of "plotting to oust the regime."

Their leader, not identified, was accused of receiving funds from foreign sources to commit the cell's plots.

Violence-inciting leaflets were seized with the convicted people.
