Cairo - MENA
Cairo Criminal Court has delayed to Thursday the trial of 68 terrorists, including Mohamad el-Zawahri - the brother of al-Qaeda's leader Ayman el-Zawahri, over forming a terrorist organization.
The session was delayed to hear the witnesses' testimonies.
Also, the court sentenced four of the defendants to one year in prison and two others to two years for contempt of the court.
In April, the public prosecution had handed over to the court the file of the case that included 18 fugitives.
The defendants are charged with running an al-Qaeda branch in Egypt to plot terrorist operations against state institutions, the army, police and Coptic Christians.
The case file is made up of more than 3,000 pages that cover everything in relation, investigation sessions, confessions and technical reports about the seizures including weapons, ammunition and laptops.
