Indian markets opened flat with a negative bias on Monday, tracking weakness in Asian peers and fall in FMCG and private banks stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex opened at 28,833.02, 59.95 points or 0.2 percent down compared to its previous close at 28,892.97.
