Tokyo stocks opened slightly higher Wednesday tracing a buoyant overnight U.S. market that was boosted by a robust housing data, as well as due to a weaker yen.
At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 30.48 points, or 0.20 percent, from Tuesday to 15,480.27.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 2.87 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1,283. 16.
