Tokyo stocks ended almost unchanged on Monday morning as investors moved to cash in after recent gains.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up just 0.26 point, from Friday at 17,621.66.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 0.70 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,410. 31.
Major gainers included oil and coal, mining and trading issues.
