Tokyo stocks

Tokyo stocks finished almost flat in choppy Wednesday trading as selling amid a pause in the yen’s depreciation offset buying on firm US stocks.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended with a slight gain of 13.60 points, or 0.09 percent, from Tuesday at 15,534.82, according to Japan’s (Kyodo) News Agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0.91 point, or 0.07 percent, higher at 1,285.92.
Major gainers included pharmaceutical and brokerage shares, while retail and services issues lost ground.
