Closer cooperation between GCC nations and the eurozone can take global renewable energy initiatives to the next era of growth, according to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, vice-chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and managing director and chief executive officer of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. He was addressing delegates at a specialised workshop held in Dubai on “Mediterranean Initiatives on Renewable Energy: Prospects for GCC Countries”. “The Supreme Council of Energy continuously focuses on engaging with energy and renewable energy experts from around the world to identify and promote best practices for a sustainable future for everybody. We strongly believe in the power of dialogue and cooperation to address the sustainability challenges that the world faces today. This workshop serves as a powerful platform to better understand the Mediterranean initiatives on renewable energy, and to explore the potential opportunities of these strategies in the GCC,” said Al Tayer. “ The Supreme Council of Energy is responsible for achieving green growth, which is a core goal for Dubai and also to enhance the position of the emirate as an exemplar in achieving the highest standards in energy-efficiency.” Source: Khaleej Times Online
