Unemployment in Germany posted a surprise gain in September, jumping by 25,000 to 2.975 million, dpa quoted the labour office as saying Tuesday. Analysts had expected the monthly data to show that the seasonally adjusted number of people out of work had fallen by 5,000. \"Overall, the German labour market is in a good basic shape, but structural problems will become more obvious,\" said labour office board member Heinrich Alt. In seasonally unadjusted terms, unemployment dropped by 97,000 to 2.849 million.
