Egypt: 6 month sentence for governor

The court of Al-Kharga oasis in the el-Wadi el-Gedid (New Valley) governorate, headed by Ashraf Abdul Ghafoor ,issued a verdict of imprisonment on the governor of New Valley,  Major General Tariq Mohammed al-Mahdi, as we;ll as Mohammed Abdullah Bukhar and the undersecretary of ministry of health, for a period of six months in jail and a fine of 3000 pounds in order to stop the execution of the penalty. In additionwill be   relieved from their jobs, because of their involvement in firing a public servant from her job. The verdict was based on case no. 753 of  the year 2012, which was filed by  a government employee called Ibtisam Kamel Abdul el-Geed,  after she was relieved from her post. The court  acquitted the second defendant  , the director of legal affairs. The court, refused a civil case filed by the third defendant, undersecretary of ministry of health  and compelled the first and third defendant to pay an amount of 10,001 pounds, as a temporary civil compensation.
