Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah condemned the recent attack on Egyptian border guards in Sinai, and described it as a "tragic inciident." "I send my condolences to Egypt's president, the Egyptian army, and the families of the martyr officers and soldiers," he added in a speech. Nasrallah declared that this is a disaster in which Israel is the biggest winner, and only Israel will reap the consequences of the incident. He also said that this attack has nothing to do with Islam, religion, or the Quran, adding that there are two major threats to security and stability in the region - Israel and the "takfiri" mentality it tries to spread, referring to groups that accuse all other trends they disagree with of being infidels in the Arab and Islamic world. He said that the current period is difficult due to what is going on in the region, from killing and destruction in Syria, the kidnapping of Lebanese and Iranian citizens, and the various bombings in Iraq. According to media reports, on Sunday evening an attack on the Egypt-Gaza border involved a military vehicle, reportedly hijacked earlier, which exploded around 7pm. Others were injured after the attackers opened fire on them. A total of 16 Egyptian border guards were killed, with seven others injured. Investigations by authorities into the attack are still ongoing as no group has claimed responsibility.
