Max Pacioretty scored two goals and the Montreal Canadiens rose to the occasion in a 4-1 victory over the NHL-leading New York Rangers on Sunday that snapped their three-game losing streak. Having managed only three goals in their previous three games, the Canadiens picked the right time to catch fire as they turned back the NHL's best. Pacioretty, who opened the scoring less than three minutes in, gave the home team a 2-1 lead in the second period where Montreal rung up three scores to pull away from the Rangers. Midway goal Michael Blunden and David Desharnais also tallied in the second period while Peter Budaj had 28 saves in the win. John Mitchell had the lone Rangers goal midway through the first and New York lost for the second time in three games.
