British film and stage director Sam Mendes is to be presented with the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre next month in New York. The Roundabout Theatre Company said it will bestow the honor on the man who helmed both the Tony Award-winning musical "Cabaret" and the James Bond blockbuster "Skyfall" on March 10 during the company's 2014 spring gala at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. Mendes' association with Roundabout began when he directed the wildly popular revival of "Cabaret" in 1998. He is now helming another staging of the show. Both productions feature Alan Cumming. Expected to pay tribute to Mendes at the gala are Cumming, Ethan Hawke, Bernadette Peters, Marc Shaiman, Brian d'Arcy James and Aaron Krohn. Other guests will include Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Cynthia Nixon, Kathy Bates, Dylan Baker and Richard Easton.
